Samsung's Super AMOLED technology is in the news now. This new technology produce quality OLED Displays that are energy efficient and cheaper. The latest Samsung Cellphone Samsung I9000 Galaxy S uses Samsung's Super AMOLED technology. AMOLED means Active Matrix Organic light emitting diode.It said that Amoled technolgy quickly will replace all other display technologies in the recent time. Active matrix (AM) OLED displays stack cathode, organic, and anode layers on top of another layerAMOLD or Active-matrix OLED or Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode is a display technology for use in mobile devices. AM OLED pixels turn on and off more than three times faster than the speed of conventional motion picture film - making these displays ideal for fluid, full-motion video. OLED doesn't require a backlight. AMOLED technology continues to make progress towards low-power and low-cost displays for mobile devices. AMOLED technolgy is also applied for making high tech television sets. Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) is developing an AMOLED display that is crush-proof and can be bent while showing video without ill effects. AMOLED displays fabricated on flexible plastic substrates and have advantages like being thin, lightweight and rugged, consumens lower-power, produce superior image quality, and low cost compared to current LCDs. Also AMOLEDs are rollable display to tuck away when not in use.
